The American Physical Society has announced completion of
its PROLA Project which makes every APS journal published since 1893 available
online. PROLA stand for Physics Reviews On Line Archive. The project, which
required tens years to complete, scanned 1,600,000 pages into the PROLA
database using a combination of images and optical character recognition. While
the PROLA archive is mainly dedicated to mainstream physics, many of the
journals such as Physical Review and Physics Review Letters carry articles of
interest to fluid mechanicians.
The PRL articles for the most recent three years are not in the PROLA archive. To
access them on-line one must subscribe to PRL. Full access to the PROLA archive
is granted to individuals and institutions who subscribe to it. Access to
titles and abstracts is open to all and copies of individual articles are
available for a fee. Connect to PROLA by visiting http://publish.aps.org/
